Departing from Tunbridge Wells West, you’ll settle into one of our beautifully restored heritage carriages before enjoying a freshly prepared fish and chips supper, supplied by a local traditional chip shop. Prefer something different? Alternative menu options are also available. Your meal is followed by a delicious slice of cake for dessert, with a drink included too.

As the train steams through the picturesque countryside along the Spa Valley Railway, you can relax, unwind, and savour a leisurely dining experience unlike any other.

A heritage train ride lasting around two hours.

Your departure time and station are shown on your eTicket. You will return to your starting station.

A fish & chip supper (or other option) served at your table.

A complimentary drink.

The opportunity to stretch your legs to see the locomotive that has pulled your train at either end of the line.

Table service, which lets you order drinks from your seat.

Supplied by a local chippy!

Your supper is freshly prepared by a local traditional chip shop and delivered to the train ready for you to enjoy at your table. Served in a classic takeaway box, it’s the perfect way to savour this much-loved British favourite while travelling through the beautiful High Weald countryside.

There are a variety of menu options available, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy on board. We'll also provide tomato ketchup, tartare sauce, and plenty of salt and vinegar, so you can season your meal just the way you like it.

Please note that, due to the way the food is prepared and supplied, we are only able to cater for vegetarian dietary requirements on this service. We cannot cater for vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free dietary requirements. A full list of allergen information can be found at the bottom of this page.

After your supper, treat yourself to a delicious dessert waiting at your table. Choose from a selection of sponge cakes and muffins, with a variety of flavours placed on each table for guests to enjoy.

Should you wish to enjoy more during your journey, additional drinks are available to purchase on board and can be brought directly to your table by our friendly volunteers using our convenient table service.

Booking Information

Advance booking is essential for all Dining Experiences.

Please note that, due to the limited number of tables for two, smaller parties may be required to share a table with other guests.

On the day of travel, please have your e-ticket ready for inspection, either printed or displayed on a mobile device. A member of our team will check tickets before boarding.

Please be aware that we are unable to offer refunds or transfers for customers who do not attend their booked event. As the Spa Valley Railway incurs costs for all confirmed bookings, these charges cannot be recovered. We recommend that customers consider appropriate travel or event insurance where necessary. Any re-booking will be subject to purchasing a new ticket at the full advertised fare.

TicketProtect is available for your order

We strongly recommend that you include this option, as your tickets are non-refundable. Adding TicketProtect will protect you against cancellations due to accidents, travel disruption on the way to the railway, and unexpected illnesses preventing you from attending. By adding it to your basket, you confirm that you have read and accept the TicketProtect Terms & Conditions, which we advise you to retain.

This protection is offered in-house by the Wealden Railway Company Limited, trading as the Spa Valley Railway and is only valid when purchased at the same time as your ticket(s). It is not an insurance policy.

Wheelchair Users

Dogs

Assistance dogs are permitted in our dining cars, but due to space limitations we are unable to accommodate other dogs on board our dining trains.
