Step aboard the Kent Cheese Train and enjoy a relaxing journey through the picturesque High Weald while sampling a selection of exceptional local cheeses. In partnership with The Cheese Shop, Tunbridge Wells, this unique experience combines heritage railway travel with some of the region’s finest produce.

Your afternoon begins at Tunbridge Wells West Station, where you’ll take your seat in one of our beautifully restored heritage carriages before setting off on a return trip along the Spa Valley Railway. Waiting at your table will be a specially prepared tasting box featuring four carefully selected cheeses, accompanied by crackers and chutney to complement every bite.

As the countryside rolls past your window, savour the flavours of Kent and Sussex while enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere of rail travel from a bygone age. Whether you’re a passionate cheese lover or simply looking for a unique afternoon out with friends and family, the Kent Cheese Train offers the perfect combination of local food, stunning scenery, and heritage charm.

Your ticket also includes one drink of your choice, selected at the time of booking, and is valid for travel throughout the day, giving you even more opportunity to enjoy everything the Spa Valley Railway has to offer.

What’s included in the ticket price?


  • Heritage train ride lasting around 1 hour along the Spa Valley Railway. Your departure time and station are displayed on your e-ticket. You will return to your starting location.

  • Four individual portions of cheese.

  • A portion of Caramelised Onion Marmalade and a portion of Apricot and Ginger Chutney.

  • The Fine Cheese Co.’s crackers.

  • A complimentary drink, either a small cider or white, red or rosé wine or soft drink.


Adult Cheese Train Menu:


  • Four portions of cheese (approx 300g):

    • Winterdale Shaw Cheese

    • Kentish Blue Cheese

    • Sussex Brie Cheese

    • Mayfield Cheese



  • Three packets of Fine Cheese Co.’s crackers.

  • Two mini jars:

    • Caramelised Onion Marmalade

    • Apricot and Ginger Chutney.



  • A small cider or white, red or rosé wine or soft drink.

    This experience, due to the nature of the product, is not suitable for those with a vegan or dairy-free dietary requirement. We can reach out to the supplier to discuss vegan cheese options; however, this will increase the ticket price due to the cost of these products.

Booking Information

Advance booking is essential for all Dining Experiences.

Please note that, due to the limited number of tables for two, smaller parties may be required to share a table with other guests.

On the day of travel, please have your e-ticket ready for inspection, either printed or displayed on a mobile device. A member of our team will check tickets before boarding.

Please be aware that we are unable to offer refunds or transfers for customers who do not attend their booked event. As the Spa Valley Railway incurs costs for all confirmed bookings, these charges cannot be recovered. We recommend that customers consider appropriate travel or event insurance where necessary. Any re-booking will be subject to purchasing a new ticket at the full advertised fare.


TicketProtect is available for your order

We strongly recommend that you include this option, as your tickets are non-refundable. Adding TicketProtect will protect you against cancellations due to accidents, travel disruption on the way to the railway, and unexpected illnesses preventing you from attending. By adding it to your basket, you confirm that you have read and accept the TicketProtect Terms & Conditions, which we advise you to retain.

This protection is offered in-house by the Wealden Railway Company Limited, trading as the Spa Valley Railway and is only valid when purchased at the same time as your ticket(s). It is not an insurance policy.

Wheelchair Users

Dogs

Assistance dogs are permitted in our dining cars, but due to space limitations we are unable to accommodate other dogs on board our dining trains.

If you have any allergies or special dietary requirements, please notify us when booking and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Please note that there are no alternative menu options available beyond those offered during the booking process.

A £10 administration fee applies to all booking alterations.
